This is a constant feature. When you let go and let God you give Him the freedom to move on your behalf. In her words “I believed that I should enjoy my life and not hold my breath because I figured His promise would still come to pass, whichever way I opted to wait “- What simple but rewarding faith!
Don't put your life on hold-take that masters programme to improve your chances of promotion at work, start that new business so you are fully occupied and challenged by other interests. God created you for many purposes, not only to bear children. Don't let Him down by under achieving in other areas of your life.
Modupe and her husband, in spite of the challenges they faced during their period of waiting still got on with their lives. I am a champion of getting on with life while waiting. It is important. The bearing of children is of paramount importance but it is not the only purpose for which we were created. God wants us to achieve our full potential in our ministries, careers, education etc. Modupe's husband went abroad for his masters when others would have thought he should stay home and ensure his wife gets pregnant! He returned and he took up a job in Abuja, whilst she got a new job in Port-Harcourt. Obviously, several well-meaning people would have thought they were crazy.
We have to come to the realisation that God will do what He will do in His own time. He indeed makes ALL things beautiful in His own time. Live your best life and let that child come into a blessed home of joy, peace, prosperity and love.
